Where Can I Load My Venmo Card? Read Here

We’ve all been there – you paid your friend back using Venmo, only to forget that you still need to reload your Venmo card in order to pay them back again!

This can be especially frustrating if you keep a little cash on hand and are running low on time to find an ATM (or no ATMs are nearby).

Luckily, there are several other places where you can load your Venmo card. Looking for where can I load my Venmo card? If yes, this article will show you how to load your Venmo card at one of these places and never find yourself caught short again!

Where can I load my Venmo card?

By now, most Americans know they can use their debit or credit card to load money onto their Venmo account. But what if you want to load cash directly onto your account, instead of adding a credit card?

Many people avoid linking a bank account to their Venmo because they don’t want to be charged with insufficient funds fees—Venmo charges these fees when you try to withdraw more money than what is available in your linked bank account.

However, there are still ways to get around those pesky fees and load cash onto your Venmo account without using a credit card.

Here are some suggestions for how you can start loading cash on your Venmo today:

Adding money to your Venmo account via Bank transfer

The quickest way to add money to your account is via Bank transfer.

To set up a bank transfer, log into your Account Settings and choose Link Your Bank under Add Funding. Just enter your routing number and account number, select a bank and follow the instructions.

Here are the steps to take if you want to transfer money from your bank account to your Venmo balance.

You need to get a Venmo debit card issued by Mastercard in order to deposit funds from your bank account to your Venmo balance. That means that you have to first apply for and

  • receive a Venmo debit card
  • Use the Venmo app.
  • Visit the Cards tab.
  • To use Venmo, after receiving your Venmo debit card, you will need to link your bank account to your Venmo account.
  • Select the button labeled You
  • To select a payment method, please enter Settings and choose a payment method.
  • Tap on Add a Bank or Card: Branch of your bank
  • You can choose from one of the verification methods.
  • You’ll be able to start the transfer once your bank account is verified.
  • Click on the tab
  • At the top of the personal transactions tab, click on either Add or Transfer
  • Type in the amount you want to transfer, press the button marked Done.
  • Select the linked account you want to transfer from, then tap next.
  • Verify the details in the summary and the estimated arrival date
  • It’s important to note that once you have started a bank transfer to your Venmo account, it cannot be canceled or reversed.
  • Once the funds are transferred to your Venmo account, you should be able to see them in your Venmo balance within 3 to 5 business days.
  • Initiating the transaction on a weekend or public holiday only has the transaction being processed on the next business day.

Adding money to your Venmo account via Direct deposit

You can load your Venmo balance by transferring money from your bank account via direct deposit. Just go to your bank’s website, log in and select Transfer Funds.

Besides a direct deposit, you can add funds to your Venmo balance by transferring money from an existing Venmo account or a linked credit or debit card.

The fee for adding money via Direct Deposit is $0.25 per transaction, while adding funds from a bank account is free and transferring money from another Venmo user is free if you have more than $2 in your Venmo balance.

If not, there is a 3% fee on transfers under $10 and 5% fee on transfers over $10.

Add Money to Venmo from a Credit or Debit Card

The only way to add money to your Venmo balance is to start a bank transfer from a linked bank account.

You can’t send money on Venmo if your balance is zero, but you can through linking a payment method.

When you make a payment to a friend or vendor, if the amount is higher than your Venmo balance, your linked bank account will cover the difference, not your Venmo balance.

In order to send money to Venmo, you don’t need to have a positive balance.

You just need a verified form of payment. Among the methods of payment available are your bank’s credit or debit card.

If you want to link your credit or debit card to your Venmo account, the following steps will show you how.

  • Open the Venmo app
  • Select the You tab
  • From the Settings menu, select Payment Methods
  • Tap Add a Bank or Card
  • Select Card
  • Add your card information.

To enter the number and other details of your credit or debit card on your phone, either you can use your phone’s camera or enter it manually.

After you have connected your credit card, you can opt to use it as your Venmo payment method of choice when you are ready to send money or pay a merchant.

If you’re using a credit card, you will be charged an additional 3% of the total.

Other Options to Fund Venmo Accounts

In the event that none of the above methods are an option for you, there are still other ways to fund your Venmo account
